Our SDA service assists care-recipients to access (live in) and maintain a home. SDA housing is designed for care-recipients with extreme functional impairment or very high-support needs, or otherwise meet the SDA needs requirement and NDIS funding criteria.SDA housing allows for safe support delivery and helps care-recipients live more autonomously. The type of home depends on individual requirements. Many homes can be modified to improve accessibility. There are 4 levels of homes:
Housing with better physical access i.e., easy to see walls / floors, few stairs, open plan living so that a care-recipient can be seen easily. It has features for people with sensory, intellectual, or cognitive impairments.
Housing for high-level of physical access i.e., wheelchair at home, no steps. For care-recipients with lots of physical challenges.
Housing that is very strong and durable, reducing need for repairs / maintenance; hence safe for all stakeholders. For care-recipients with complex and challenging behaviours (that may cause property damage).
Housing with high-level physical access for care-recipients with high-level support needs i.e., ceiling hoist, backup power supply, home automation / communication technology.SDA does not include supports you may receive in your home that relate to your disability needs i.e., personal care supports, SIL, or ILO. SDA funding covers building and maintenance costs, and care-recipients are required to provide a reasonable rent contribution and other day-to-day costs including electricity or water bills. SDA may involve a private- or shared- home with private- or shared- bedrooms, depending on what you want, and our availability.
